I'm looking for a new printer, i'm mainly going to use it to print off essays and other text documents. I don't plan to use it for photos etc. Can anyone reccomend a cheapish but reasonable quality printer that won't take up too much space and has reasonably priced refils. There are so many when i've looked on the net that I just don't know where to start, or what a realistic amount is to spend!
Any help would be greatfully received!

I'd go with one of the cheap Samsung lasers, e.g.

I would look at the Lexmark range. I have had brilliant after sales service from Lexmark even when my printer was out of warranty. If you are printing mainly text documents, whichever printer you go for, always go to Printer preferences/options and choose Economy or Quick print. I have always used this with Lexmark and it really saves on ink costs.0

How many pages will the toner in that cover?
The replacement toner will cost more than the printer.0

A full cartridge is supposed to be good for 3000 pages, but the printer itself comes with a 'starter cartridge' (only 1000 pages). The replacement toner will cost more than the printer.
A new cartridge appears to be around £20-25, but the cartridges can be refilled (several times) much more cheaply.Stompa0

Since its text that you'll be printing, then you should go for a budget laser printer.
Both Brother and Samsung do very good ones for less than £100.
 Perhaps this article might help:

This printer looks brilliant and all the reviews are very positive.
I have an HP Laserjet and it might be worth buying this as a replacement when my toner runs out!!0

FWIW I've had an ML-2010 (I assume the ML-2010R is just a newer model?) for about 15 months now. It gets fairly light use, but is still going strong on the original starter cartridge. I'd certainly recommend.Stompa0

Well I guess that depends on whether you want a genuine Samsung.....
