    Hiya,

I'm waiting to get a new phone/pda & I'm waiting for the new HP Ipaq 914 to come out. Its a Phone/PDA all in one, Its not got as faster processor as you request but its got everything else. It'll come in under £500.

    -Wifi/bluetooth -Yes
-Good size and resolution screen to play video files - Yes
    -touchscreen Yes
    -624mhz or higher - No
    -easy email access -Yes
-64 ram or higher - Yes
    -budget £500 -Yes

You can see the specs here - http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/uk/en/sm/WF06a/215348-215348-64929-3352590-3352590-3551669.html

It should start shipping from Distributers in the next 2 weeks.

I hope this helps a bit

iPaq 914 has a 2.5" QVGA screen (the screen on the Diamond or even the Kaiser is 2.8", and even that is a little small for comfortable media playback). Plus it has that blackberry style keyboard on the front - I am not a fan of those as they just seem a waste screen space.

The iPhone will soon be available second hand without contract. Sure that's not ideal if you want something new, but it will get you a decent media player and phone with a decent web browser all in one. It also does email (so can write it on the train while visiting parents) with a half decent screen keyboard (default WM on-screen keyboards are not so good, helps if you buy a third party keyboard).

Given your main interest is playing media, I would suggest the 214 is a good option (big screen, big battery, upgradable storage) OR a second hand 16Gb iPhone (big screen, fair battery, enough storage).

But if you have a laptop and will have mobile broadband, are you sure this is not going to be overkill?

Thing about the 914 is that i would be paying an extra £100 for the phone ability which i dont really want plus the cpu speed is not up to scratch. Although the GPRS system is nice.

Concerning my laptop. I live near campus so i only take my laptop in to uni for a major deadline and work in the library. But when i dont have a deadline i would like something lighter which is why i want a pda.

Reason why i dont want a pda/phone is because i really like my phone and buying a pda/phone would make my old phone obsolete which i dont want.

I think given my circumstances 214 would work for me. Thank you guys for your help.
