Taking food abroad

To be honest, I've never thought of taking food abroad, especially now with the expensive baggage costs.
For me the whole point of going abroad it to enjoy the culture/foods etc otherwise you may as well stay at home or go to spain! (mind you that's not cheap anymore.)
May I suggest searching the local embassy, they may have a link as to what you can take.
As for the bad tummy, always take tablets with you and never ever drink the water, not even when brushing teeth. Also do not take ice cubes.
Have a great holiday, last time we went to turkey the food was lovely.

Me neither. I've never taken food abroad - but I'm a fairly adventurous and independent traveller. The idea of taking anything with me never crosses my mind. It might be different if I had kids who were picky eaters.
I regularly go to India and SE Asia, eaten street food and have never had any "gastric" problems. In fact the only time I have ever had a bad reaction from food is from a dodgy paella in Spain. I'm much more likely to come off worse for over indulging in the local grog (one word of advice about Thai whisky: don't)0 -

Hi all - traveling to egypt soon and wanted to know if I can take sausage rolls and pasties etc in the hand luggage. would it be confiscated? thanks
An opportunity for Greggs no doubt - they seem to have cornered the pie and pastie market over here!
I'm with Murphy on this one - I just could not be faffed to take food abroad - jeez - its bad enough packing normal items in a case without worrying about jam leaking out of my doughnuts!
It is a small world now and you can get most of the stuff you get at home overseas - with the exception of a Gregg's sausage roll of course - or 'Geordie Dummies' as we call them up here!0
