Only my own opinion, but up there with people who endlessly use their mobiles whilst away.
p.s. for anyone travelling abroard this year and wondering where to purchase their food from - a new phenomenon has swept the world in the last 100 years (or so) -- its called a 'shop' or more specifically, a 'food shop', where you get the chance to exchange bits of paper or metal (commonly called money or currency), for items that the shop is selling. Its often referred to as 'shopping' or 'food shopping' and is quite a popular way for people to spend a large amount of their time.;)
i agree i would never take food on holiday,if i cant get something then i would rather go without for 2 weeks.0 -
I always take bags, sugar, & powdered milk and then worry that they'll think it's something else if they search my case  The rest of the food I buy or eat out, as (apart from that morning tea) I like to eat with locals and mingle with them as much as possible.0

Taking food abroad depends on the customs regulations of the country you are taking it to. Some (USA, Oz) are paranoic.
Turkey has restrictions on food imports for items of animal/vegetable origin ('phytosanitary' certificate required). Whether they enforce it for small quantities carried by tourists is another matter.
I see where your coming from however a phytosanitary cert only realates to plants, seeds, fruits and soils not products of animal origin.
All the best

i love to travel and try local cusine but every time i go on holiday i get diarrhea. i avoid tap water or red meat and salads. sometimes you have to take food with you because your stomach does not agree with the local cuisine.0

Hi all - traveling to egypt soon and wanted to know if I can take sausage rolls and pasties etc in the hand luggage. would it be confiscated? thanks0 -
May not be a good idea to take sausage rolls especially if they are of the pork variety!0

TBH I don't know the answer. I would imagine that the likes of Egypt, Bahrain are not as strict as places such as Saudi and may be ok about it(providing it doesn't blatantly offend) Hopefully someone will have a definitive answer for you.0

I always take cartons of ribena or capri suns for the kids while we're away. Simply for cost reasons as 1 carton in Greece was a similar price to a pack of 10 here0
