Oh come on - any kitchen appliance with a motor in that gets washed could have 'residual water' in it, it's common sense to let the item dry out before plugging it in again. Personally I think manufacturers/retailers should be absolved of all wrongdoing if it's a Darwinistic mistake.

Yes, any kitchen COULD have water in it. But that doesn't make it acceptable.

What it doesn't make it acceptable that people should have and use common (or as it's becoming uncommon) sense?

Bottom line is if something is designed to be washed, and it is washed in accordance with instructions, and allows water into electrical components, then it is defective and potentially unsafe.

Ok so what are the instructions? For example theres no instructions on my hairdryer that says I MUSTNT use it when in the bath.

Thanks for your help Tozer. Do you know if it is trading standards you would report safety issues to?

Pleasure. Yes I believe it would be. Obviously if they don't think it is dangerous there is no issue so the kids posting their silly comments on this thread are really making non-issues.

Perhaps if you could see what happens and let your next of kin let us know the result?

You're going the wrong way about it saying there is a safety issue. You should just say it doesn't work properly.
