Brand new grey import-haggle or run??

After speaking to the importer, it appears that the price the importer would ask is very similar to the dealer, so obviously I would prefer to buy from the dealer and get the warranty. Has anyone else recently bought an import? Any issues over registration? How do they calculate the new Tax brand? Anything I should be aware of and ask the dealer? I don't think there is an instruction booklet/ service manual in English - does anyone know to deal with this?
