Brand new grey import-haggle or run??

The bit about the Warranty is not quite true and is what the dealers would like you to believe. If the Warranty is a manufacturers Warranty, which in the case of Mazda it is, then you will get the full 3 years from when the vehicle was registered.cyclonebri1 wrote: »You'll probably find the waranty is a year less for an import too unless the dealer honours it.
Its not true that a dealer won't sell an import car, many of them have set up a direct import arm to compete with the supermarkets, and will offer these if pushed.;)
To be honest there should be a good reason to go for an import against a used car, and I don't think it being the only one available to your spec is enough. It would need to be considerably under price for me
It is only some manufacturers like VW who provide a couple of years warranty with the dealer giving the additional year.0 -

Why would you pay £20k for a dodgy sounding import when the UK list price of the MPV ranges from £13861 to £19283? Am I missing something here? I thought the whole point of imports was to save money or get soemthing unavailable over here. It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0 -
The MPV isnt available in UK, or Europe since 2006. Dont confuse it with the Mazda 5.0

Fair enough, but given the number of people carriers that re available what makes it so special? Is it this one?

Thats the MPV but it was updated in 2006 quite considerably.

All we want in a people carrier is....
1. Sliding doors
2. 3rd row of seats that fold flat rather than have to be taken out (we need the boot space more than the seats)
3. auto
Doesnt seem too much to ask, especially as you say there are loads in the uk!
In the UK, all that is sold that fits the spec is the Crysler Grand Voyager.
If anyone else has another idea pls let me know!0 -
Ooops - I should add, before I get shouted down, that we originally went to the Mazda garage to look at the Mazda 5 which fits those criteria, but it doesn't give us much more boot space than our exisiting Renault Scenic.0

Fine, I wasn't sure about Mazda, but VW, Renualt and others only give 2 years;)
Also having read the last few posts, would it be wise to buy a car of a type of which there is only one in the country?, I'm thinking spares etc:cool:I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
Apparently spares aren't a problem as the Mazda dealership stocks, or can get, the spares.
I put in a low offer (4k less) yesterday to the garage. They came back with a better offer, but not as good as we want. Due to the suspicious circumstances, we are not going to budge from our offer.
Im speaking to an importer (recommended by friend with a grey import) tomorrow to find out how much to get direct. Has anyone done this?0 -

My grey import was sold in the UK through the manufacturer (although apparently they don't do that!
) so no direct experience but I know several people that have.
Having a personal recommendation should give you some confidence, but have a bit of a 'dig' on the importer. Some are good, some less so, one or two seem downright shady!0
