We found the same when changing from BG to Powergen. We wrote to them stating previous 3 quarterly charges for gas & electricity from BG and compared them to theirs. Powergen customer services politely phoned us but couldn't resolve the matter. They have credited our account with £20 but rather than saving the 'promised' £90 by changing to Powergen, after three bills we have spent £60 more!
Will wait until Martin advises switching, then look around again.0 -
We've not had any problems with SWEB so far, currently can't find a cheaper deal than that of what we are on.It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0

anybody know why EDF energy do not offer online tariff whereas London, SWEB and Seeboard do, they are all owned by EDF !0

I tried a friend's postcode and got to the SWEB site. Even that could not give me the Online tariff. I'm hoping that although London Energy don't cover my area as EDF do, that the Online tariff is available in my area as it's all managed online.
As for customer service, they can't be worse than British Gas have been this last 5 weeks!0 -
You can only get the online tariff through an online comparison site.
I don't see why London Energy cover your area unless another EDF company already does.
For example if you live in London then you can only use London Energy, if you live in the SWEB service area then you can only use SWEB.
As I live in Brum I can use any of the EDF companies. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... Bex,
On the comparison sites I get London Energy, SWEB and Seeboard offering an online tariff with a saving of £150. EDF is showing as standard and only an £8 saving.
When I go onto any of the individual websites, after inputting my postcode it directs me to EDF and therefore not worth switching for £8.
I am in the manweb region by the way.0 -
Yeah, you need to sign up via the the online comparison site using one of the individual companies to get the online tariff, signing up via the individual companies websites or via EDF you don't get offered the same tariff. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0

Thanks Bex, I was going onto their websites to double check everything. I am tempted now as I belive their prices are the new prices, effective 31st Oct whereas my other options such as Npower, Powergen and Southern Electric are all due a price rise.0 -

This is incorrect. You can be with any of these companies in any area any of them cover. I've been with SWEB and london energy (in Bristol).

Yes the fact that their prices are effective 31st October is what is interesting me too.0
