Good luck people moving tomorrow, its my turn on Monday! Loads of really excellent tips here. I'd thought about tea bags, kettle and milk, but forgot mugs and a teaspoon! Would be so stressed out if I couldn't have a cup of tea.Quit smoking 12th July 07 :j0

When we moved house last year the best thing we did that i would highly reccomend is to hire a professional removal firm . They provided all the cardboard boxes a few weeks before so we made a good start on the packing . The loft was a real headache so allow plenty of time if you are anything like me and put everything up there !!
On the move day they arrived at 8am and we didn't have to do a thing they worked so hard loading all our belongings then after lunch loading it into the new house putting every box in the correct rooms .
kids definately need to be out of the way !!
I would say, if you can , one person clean the old house as it is being unloaded and the other give new house a clean ready for unloading .
We found it was helpful to unpack the kitchen first so you have all your essentials to hand .
We also got lots of air fresheners to dot around the new house to make it smell all clean and new !!!
good luck !!!!!!0 -
If you do the move yourself:
1. Have some people outside and some inside passing boxes through the front door so that you don't get muddy feet all over your brand new carpets.
2. Hire some sack trolleys. About £15 - £20 for the weekend and cuts down LOADS of carrying.
3. If you can, especially if there are rented properties involved, overlap the moving out date of the old property and the moving in date of the new one. You control the dates, and you can then go back to your old house to clean at your leisure.0
