Go Compare's Insurance feedback

Comments

  • Another waste of time. Couldn't even get the first page to come up! Have given up on GoCompare.
  • We received our Motor Insurance Renewal this morning for our 2005 Clio. The premium quoted is £374.

I followed Martin's tips: 1. compared the comparison sites and 2. Decided to the pay the premium in full rather than through monthly direct debit.

    Result:

GO Compare came up with a quote for £178 from Admiral for insurance which is marginally better (the excess is lower on Admiral) than my existing insurance provider.

A saving of £196 yes ONE HUNDRED AND NINETY SIX POUNDS!!!!

    Thanks once again Martin!!:T

    Erik.

You need to double check you are properly covered. I found that the correct info you put in on Go Compare is not used by admiral, elephant orDiamond - So they come up cheapest. If you carry on and click to except and pay i full then unless you check the small print and details when you get them you will not be aware of this. They were my cheapest quotes but when I phoned to find out about monthly payments they 'checked' my details as they don't get all the info accross. So my £188 quote went up to £257 plus about £50 extra for paying monthly. Because I had 2 dependents, they had 0 down and my car is worth £2000 not the £1500 their system had suggested. Shocking, crap tactics to reel you in. I guess if you tried to claim they would have a great time refusing your claim as you didn't check!
Saying that hope you're right - great saving if so

I used go compare earlier today to check for home insurance. I hadn't even checked the quotes when the phone rang and was asked by a company what I thought of their quote and how was I paying.

Next time I'm putting in my local post office phone number, lets see them try to sell insurance to themself

GoCompare like all comparison and insurance sites have little check boxes you have to tick or untick if you don't want more information for them.

It's up to you to read them and ensure you tick and untick the correct boxes.
    I'm not cynical I'm realistic :p

All their price quotes were much more expensive than other comparison sites.

I've saved both our car details (mine + OH's) for Go Compare, Car Insurance Supermarket, Compare the Market and Confused.com and it takes a few minutes to update them every year on each. This year Car Insurance Supermarket gave the best quote for the same cover. In previous year's it's been the other sites with special deals. As usual shop around, save your quotes and try them every year. Tried Aviva as they are currently advertising and they don't allow use of these sites. They were much more expensive.
  • Hi all,
I just bought a car Ford Fiesta (my first one in the UK). Have had a driving silence for 11 years.
Paid only £1500 for a car itself and have been given a quote for £97 p/month!!!
Still shocked. Can you please advise where i can get a better quote?
    Thanks in advance!
  • Their quotes for home and life insurance were higher than going to the individual companies direct and you could add cashback on some of those. A royal rip off IMHO. AVOID.
