Please need help re mobile contracts

Morning lovely folk,

Hope someone can kindly give me advice.

Me and DH both have phone contracts for £35 per month which we did in January. Since then money is a bit tighter and we could do with making some savings. Is it possible to reduce our monthly payments whilst we are still in contract? If we could reduce to about £20 per month this would be great. Has anyone else done this?

Hoping to ring provider this evening but I thought it would be better to get an idea off you guys what may be possible.

Many thanks

Rebecca x

Most networks need you to complete a minimum period before you can downgrade tariffs (eg t-mobile is 11 months).

Your network ts + cs will say if (and when) a downgrade is allowed.

If you got the phone via a cashback deal, then downgrading will mean the cashback will stop.

There's a few things you can atleast check:

    a) any bundles on the account are cancelled if you do not use them (e.g sms bundles, data etc.)
    b) paying by DD often removes ~£3.50
    c) paper-free billings. often reduces further.
    d) always phone up and ask if you can reduce payments.
    e) check your bills for unexpected charges/costs.
    f) are you on the correct tariff? (maybe a £40 tariff will mean your bills are £40 rather than being on a £35 tariff and spending £60)
    g) what network are you on? - we can advise cost-cutting tips if we have specifics!
