Moving on friday - decided to get virgin as I am in a cable area and do not need to connect to BT. Can you just get broadband and tv, or is the phone bit compulsory ? What do I do to get the best deal - I have one of the 'Friend gets £50 vouchers and so do I ' - or do I go thru quidco. Do I need to phone them and 'haggle' or do I sign up online. Do I automatically get the best deal they have available? Finally, any idea how long it will take for them to activate it as I will have no internet until they have done so.

DO NOT switch to Virgin, their "unlimited" is actually limited to 5 gig a week download limit, then you are capped from 8meg to 2meg AND then to add insult to injury you are throttled, yes that's right THROTTLED
We are in east london and the only reason we found out about the 5 gig a week limit was because one of thier tech guys got angry and threw it in my face, oh and the customer services is RUBBISH.
Try ringing up as a potential customer and see if you can get anyone to deny or confirm what you're download limit will be, go on
Absolute rubbish, the direct debit has been cancelled and I look forward to meeting them in court.Nothing happens until something moves.0 -

With all respect, I do not view this point as a reason to avoid using Virgin
The majority of people do not use anywhere near 5GB bandwidth a week, so unless you're a heavy heavy downloader (of which you should check fair-usage policies anyway), the 5GB limit doesn't affect you.0 -
I think that 5 gig is only during certain times though. I would phone up and haggle, i joined last year, started off saying i want the 3 for 30, but would like TV XL, then he said he would give me BB XL free. Worked out i had tv bb and phone XL for 46 pm. I think it is worth getting a phone these days, i doubt you would save much money at all not having one and even though i dont use mine much its good for things like 0845 numbers and landlines - rather than the mobile.0
