Can you just put the old cartridges straight back in (not have to do anythign to them ?)

I've just ordered 8 BLACK + 8 COLOUR for £19 from Choice Stationery - on their 'Dozen' offer, ends on 31-Aug.

I'm probably sorted for the next year or so now.. Until now I've been paying £8 just for 3 Blacks... and thinking it was cheap! Some excellent links & tips here :)

Yes, just lift out the cart and then immediately re-install it.

Press the paper advance button again to return the printhead to its resting position.

I've done this for years - no problems!
  • Not sure if this has been mentioned before, but I have just bought a Epson Stylus photo R 200 from PC World at £69.95, £30 off.

Now it would seem that proper Epson refills would work out at about £50, how do they make the printer for £20 plus the store make money?

Well they don't do they, we just get fleeced for buying the makers own brand.
  • Although I would prefer to save money by using compatibles, are they as good colour as originals? The reason I ask is that a recently bought Epson C84 gave extremely good colours with the cartridges sent. naturally they ran out and I tried Jet-tec compatibles.Using the same paper I found it very difficult to get a picture anything like as as realistic-blue cast all over. Have now ordered originals from 7dayshop and will swap them out and do a test run or two. I would imagine that I could still save money with Black compatibles.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.
  • Hi - new to this but here is a cracking deal in my view for Epson Stylus C42/C42+/C42UX/C44/C44+/C44UX printers at Choice stationary.com:

    "Devils Dozen Special Offer!

Choice Price: £35.00 Including VAT at 17.5%

    Quantity:
Pack of 6 Black and 6 Colour Compatible Cartridges
    30% EXTRA FREE

Thats Now 8 Black and 8 Colour Compatible Cartridges In Total!

That averages out at £2.19 per cartridge!!!

I've just ordered mine BUT YOU HAD BETTER BE QUICK AS THE DATE IS DUE TO FINISH NEXT WEEK
  • The cheapest place for Epson Stylus Colour 880 was https://www.inkandstuff.co.uk Bought 2xcolour & 2x black for £7.40 including p&p. Ordered at 2pm, order was processed and dispatched the next day. Not the fastest but products are good, and the website is easy to navigate.
  • Not strictly just about cartridges this but since I used these threads to help decide on a printer I thought I'd share my recent printer related bargains.

I'd almost half decided on an Epson R300 so I checked out a few deals on that printer. The best I found was on the Comet website -
R300 + USB lead + extra set of 6 cartridges + Epson Photo A4 x 20 sheets. Web Price £149.99. I thought a fab deal so went to store to check it was valid there too and found it was £146.01 (don't ask me why the odd 1p!) Also the pack of paper I picked up was 50% extra free so I have 30 sheets A4! ;D ;D

After hunting around for more paper I found the cheapest, on offer at the moment in Staples, 6x4 size Epson Premium Glossy and Semi Glossy at 50 sheets for £3.74! :o (think offer ends 23/09/04 and last time I looked I couldn't get it on the website).

I've trawled through the list of online cartridge suppliers at the very top of this thread and found 7dayshop to be the cheapest on genuine Epson cartridges.

    Hope that helps somebody!

    :)

  • https://www.7dayshop.com are well worth a look for cheap compatibles. I have purchased several items (ink, cd-r's) off them and their service is excellent.
  • Try EPS Club https://www.epsclub.co.uk.

Buy three cartridges get one free, P&P is free too, very quick delivery and cartridges are very reasonbly priced.

I have used nothing else in my photo printer and the quality has always been excellent.

    :D:D:D:D
  • For genuine Epson cartridges the best I've seen is Photoglossy.com. C42 cartridges are £10.50 B&W and £13.50 colour. This is £3 cheaper each than Cartridge Monkey and P&P is free. They also sell batteries and camera film (for those who remember what that is)
