BarclayCard going over credit limit Saga

Hi all who bother to read,

I have been paying my credit card off each month on the 1st. This causes a problem as my due date is on the 23rd so my balance can (and usually is) different to what my statement balance is.They have now brought in the new rule that over the telephone you can only make a maximum payment of the statement balance instead of the true balance.

After arguing the point that I don't want to make the smaller statement balance I want to make the full balance payment which was odd pounds of the limit, I was advised that this cannot be done so that they can protect my 56 interest free on my purchases. Fair enough I decided to take advantage of the so called 56 interest free days and decided to pay nothing and pay it all off again when the next statement comes through.

Next statement arrives and I have been charged interest which has taken me over my limit. Turns out my DD wasn't called upon by BarclayCard as between the 23rd and the 1st I had a bet repay money into my account which I subsequently spent but this then counted as a payment and stopped the DD. Called up customer relations and they so kindly refunded the interest and the charge so I paid the rest of the balance off bringing it to £0.00.

Card was used very quickly and by the 23rd I was back at my limit but I didn't worry as I had made full payment on my card so no interest. What do they say assumption is the mother of? Well BarclayCard customer service when I called advised me that I didn't pay the statement balance only the balance of my card which meant interest was due. I asked numerous times and in many different ways but she would not explain how bringing a balance to £0.00 was not considered a full payment.

I have subsequently had a graduate loan rejected due to being over my limit twice on my credit card. Well that is Barclays reason for the rejection.

I was hoping you could help in advising what can I do. This has adversely affected me according to Barclays. Is the best I can hope for simply having the interest and charge refunded?
