Assuming it is a public road - maintained by the highway authority at public expense, you will pretty much have to pay your fine and either remove the vehicle from public road or get it taxed, otherwise you will be fined again.
Presumably the £145 is made up of £40 early payment, with £105 back dated tax?0 -

At these prices it might just seem to be the sensible option and take the risk.
What do others think of this suggestion. I know its illegial and I have insurance - have done for many years.
If it goes up even more then nobody can afford to tax thier vehicle - dont the government realise this? they must be idiots!
OK..
Firstly the POLICE can SEIZE your vehicle on the spot. It will then be taken away. To release it, you'll have to pay the back tax, a new tax disc, a £125 recovery fee plus storage fees of £12 per day from when it was seized until you're allowed to take it away. Failure to pay it within 14 days results in the vehicle being crushed.
You WILL be charged with driving an untaxed vehicle as you declared it SORN which means a COURT APPEARANCE and POINTS ON YOUR LICENCE. Depending on the terms of your insurance, it may be invalid which means you potentially can be prosecuted for that as well.
ANPR cameras are absolutely everywhere in addition to the onboard ANPR that EVERY traffic police vehicle has which is constantly in use. In short, you will get caught eventually.
As for the "if they spot you all they'll do is report you to DVLA" statement from the Police Station, I take it you've never watched Traffic Cops, Road Wars or Police, Camera, Stop then?0 -
