Once you're out of contract ring them up and ask for your MAC code. Sign up to your new provider and give them the MAC code. Theoretically your BT broadband is then cancelled, but always best to ring them up and make sure. (My broadband was cancelled when I transferred from BT to O2, but they hadn't cancelled the billing! Some 'computer glitch' apparently..)

Once you are out of contract it shouldn't cost you a penny to switch.

hiya sweety. Its quite a simple process. During your last month, 30 day grace period you are allowed to call and asked for a MAC code, Migration Autherisation Code, this essentially allows you to move to a new Internet Provider without losing service.

I am currently getting my Broadband service from Be* broadband the service is excellent, i'd recommend you stay away from Tiscali as there is lots going on there, company selling up, discontent users etc.

I recommend you have a look at your options via www.uswitch.com but i recommend http://www.bethere.co.uk/ you will find many good reviews on the internet for them.

Price plans start from £14.00 and the service is extremely fast, efficient and straight forward.

It isn't a "30 day grace period"! If you do nothing during the last month of your minimum period, the contract just continues.

If you want to leave you must give 30 days notice. At the same time as giving notice you can ask for the MAC.

I can second this as I'm in a similar situation and was told that for the internet in was a 30 day notice period and to switch phone line that in 14 days. Be sure to double check but I would make sure you give the required noticed to avoid extra bill and/or fees.

Hi just to clear up when i mean grace period, i am refering to the final days of your contract when you are entitled to ask for a MAC with additional fees being applied. This is because once these 30 days are up you are no longer in contract
