Hia all.
I am new here and think the site is fab
I wud really appreciate any advice...I haven't a clue when it comes to technical stuff.
I am currently on dial-up with wanadoo on a BT line but wud really like BB. My mum has a lifeline which is connected via the main phone socket downstairs. I use my laptop in my room upstairs. My concern is will BB interfere with the lifeline and how can it be safely installed? I'm not even sure how BB works or is installed could i do it myself? I did ask the person who fitted the lifeline and he said it can be done but it was a while ago and not sure how to go abt it now. We are in the middle of decorating so mum wud prefer to not have an engineer to the house atm. We want to keep the BT line.
Thanks for any advice..

As far as I am aware the lifeline works through an ordinary modem. (We had one when my Dad was ill.) The BB has filters on it to stop any interference on the phone line and therefore, theoretically at least, if you can use the phone then the lifeline will work OK. The only problem is that if you have 1571 enabled (on the phone ) and there is a message, the lifeline might not work as it could not detect the correct dial tone. Hope I have got it right but if not I'm sure someone will correct me.0

If you live in a cable area (NTL/Telewest) you could get BB from them, as neither of them require you to have phone line from them as well.
They are generally rather cheap providors too.0
