BTW - For people like me who aren't lazy but are daunted by a big hill, this could actually HELP inprove fitness.
i.e. gradually reducing the assistance required, rather than jsut being daunted and doing nothing.
But hey, I probably shouldn't feel like I need to justify myself.0 -
No one electric bike is ideal for everyone
If you want .....
To peddle (to get fit or whatever reason) but,
Would like some help on hills and against the wind.
Want a bike that looks like a traditional mountain bike (might be better for security too).
Want a battery that charges in just 90 minutes.
Spare battery just £150 and can be carried on the bike if needs be.
To spend £1000 on a bike.
Want a `normal` bike to ride should the battery run out.
Take a look at www.cyclonex.com
Just purchased two and am very impressed. If you are anywhere north of Birmingham (the company is down in Winchester) and would like to see one before making a decision, drop me a pm.
I have no connection with the company other than being a satisfied customer.0 -

That web site is just a link page and I can find no reference to this company in Winchester on the web, though Cyclonex Ltd does exist registered in Gosport, Hampshire.0 -

Since Winchester is only a 15 minute drive away for me and I've got a bit of time off work I'll see about getting a test ride on one :cool:0 -
Looks interesting and discrete.
Yes, very.
I am sure a `cyclist` would spot something. probably the front hub, but no one I have come across so far has had a clue that it is an electric bike.
They use Trek 7.3 FX`s and they are just starting to do the 7300 with front suspension. The conversion is very very well done.
It isn`t for everyone for any number of reasons, but having only started looking about 3 weeks ago, before that knowing absolutely nothing about electric bikes (or non electric for that matter), I am very pleased.0 -
I didn`t really time myself and I rode leisurely because I was enjoying the ride instead of dreading the hills
The people at 50cycles are very good and they specialise in the kalkhoff, I think they are the only make they sell. They will answer any questions.
I've just received a email from 50cycles,and have learnt that they're offering £100 off the cost of certain Kalkhoff Agattus
http://www.50cycles.com/autumn-sale.shtml
The email says it's only for subscribers, but should think anyone could order. Price on website remains £1295. Bargain.

I have been looking into the possibility of getting one of these bikes, i asked a few weeks ago on here and was given 50 cycles and pedelec websites, the forums on there have been a great help.
The main reason why i'm looking is, i'm worried that i may lose my license at some time (health problem) but i'm not sure about this, so just a case of planning, you know, what if ????
The dvla say you do not need a license, i asked about insurance, it is not necessary but on a £1500 bike would be £130. This seems a bit high, i pointed out i had just renewed my car insurance, ford; 3yrs old; fully comp; full no claims £150.
If in the future the hospital ask for my license, i may go for one.A good cowboy always drinks upstream from the herd.
A good cowgirl always keeps her calves together.0 -

The bike is quite a bit easier to nick than your car though.0 -
I have tried my friends and definalty now looking into getting one, i think a nice mid range one as I dont want a rubbish battery. I have been looking at the electric bikes at halfords.com and amazon.co.uk they both seems to be supplied by urban mover, the tesco ones are cheap but want a good battery. Anyone know of the best type/make?0
