I've flown with Monarch before, (short haul), and they were fine. I'm not as tall as your son, (I'm only 5'11), but had no difficulties. I recently booked with them again and noticed that you can book extra legroom seats online, obviously it will cost a few pounds. Take a look.

hi i will check online and see what i can sort out:beer: , as it will be well worth the extra pounds not to have him moaning all the way there;) . thanks again for all your replies. (just out of curiosity what would happen if he couldn't sit down because the seat wasn't roomy enough would they leave him at the airport:rolleyes: ) just kidding.

I flew with Monarch this week on an Airbus A300. Monarch is NOT a budget airline, I am unsure why some may think this. Anyhow, I flew from Majorca so a short flight. Did think that the room (width of the seat and legroom) was worse than any other plane I have been on. Okay, I have a good pair of hips on me but I am by no means obese! I do think that some people would have great difficulty being comfortable if you know what I mean! My boyfriend and I were lucky and had 3 seats between us and the one next to me was empty so we could spread out. Found the cabin crew very good though.

We always fly Monarch and always pay for extra legroom - The 34" pitch with extra legroom seats is well worth the cost especially if you are flying for 9 hours. We have flown with them 4 times, the food has always been good and the flights always on time (Although these are scheduled flights). We flew Virgin recently and rated Monarch above them!

I've flown to Calgary with Monarch a few times now and have found them pretty much the same as the other cheaper airlines that fly there, the food certainly seems indentical on all of them. I'd certainly use them again after all it's only 9ish hours of a wonderful trip.

If it wasn't for Monarch, Thomas Cook, Air Transat and Zoom I wouldn't be able to pop over there half as much as I do and I'm grateful for that.

    Have a great trip!!
