think of how your life has changed since you discovered old style.
if, for some reason, you had to go back to the way you were before, and you could only keep one aspect of old style in your life, what would it be and why?
(basically its a long winded way of getting you to think about which aspect of old styling is most important to you and yours...)

I think it would be recycling because I'm finding it addictive, I can't throw anything away! I'm beginning to see now why some people never throw anything out and end up camping in the garden because their houses are full of rubbish!
OK, I'm not that bad but in a few years time who knows.....
I'd like it to be always cooking from scratch, but once you let it slip just a little bit it's soooo easy to go back to lazy ways of eating.0 -
My first reaction would be to say the cooking, but then that's not really something new to me since joining OS, although there have been periods in my life where I have relied on supermarkets' ready-made products and "junk" food etc! Only in extreme circumstances could I ever be persuaded to buy that sort of stuff again though
I'm struggling to come up with something to be honest because there is still so much OS stuff I want to do and put into practice, which just isn't possible where I live at the moment, so everything I'm already doing is stuff I've more or less always done to some degree
I suppose this brings me back to the cooking then, and I have certainly changed some aspects of that since being here - for e.g. getting the slow cooker and cooking larger batches of meals so I can freeze portions etc. That's something I'd never want to give up as it's made my life easier in so many ways ... and also saved me a fortune that I would have spent on take-aways on the days I didn't feel up to cooking a full meal"An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

It is that what you do, good or bad,
will come back to you three times as strong!

I think I have always been an old styler....just happier now with a support group!!!
I cant say you lot have helped me save money (thinks....breadmachine, food proccessor) short term !!! But these modern appliances help to maintain old ideals.0 -
Oooh - difficult
I suppose I would keep that I now buy most of my fresh stuff from local suppliers adn not from Tesco's. I have found some excellent butchers and greengrocers and there are also decent ordinary grocers around where you can pick up bits and bobs.
I also think that because I now shop differently, I now cook slightly differently. I always tried to cook mainly from scratch, but I'm almost obsessive about it - thus Mr Tesco only gets a proportion of what he used to get - as I can see when I get my quarterly tesco vouchers0 -
Have always been an old style cooking type - everything from scratch. Just got easier over the years with some wonderful kitchen utensils - hand blender, bread maker, food processor etc. So no point in me saying the cooking, although have been inspired with many of the suggestions.
This is a really hard one, there are so many ................. but think that I couldn't do without the vinegar, bi-carb soda and other natural cleaning things. Saved me a fortune, and my asthma is a lot better, I suspect due to using natural ingredients.0 -
I've always been an OS ... so, ... the one thing which *is* different is ...
MSE and the growth of the OS Community!
If I won the Lottery - I think I'd be too set in my ways to change too much and the one thing I wouldn't change is ... coming on here!!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I think there would be a lot more time in my life to do other things such as doing something I think is called housework (memory fails me here), but since joining this diabolical site all I do is park my !!!!!! in front of the computer and yak to you lot. Oh and sometimes read the posts...Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0

I've always been the way I am ( a bit frugal and additive free-ish) but if I had to go back to before I stumbled in here looking for scoubie instructions believe it or not
the one thing I'ld want to keep is the knowledge that I'm not alone!
Thanks for making me feel one of a very big crowd everyone :T0 -
this place has keeps me on the happy path! That is I'm happier cooking from scratch and doing craft and generally living naturally. Sometimes this slips when I have no friends who share the same/similar ideals to me. So I come on here and get my fix from friends on here!!
Not sure I answered the question
Sorry!!!0
