Tescos!!! Lump of plastic in food!

Can anyone give me any information please.
I have just opened up one of the tuna layered salad bowls (only a couple of quid to buy) anyway I just scooped some out to give to my daughter who is 13 months old and found a 1 inch length of plastic packaging!, Luckily I noticed it before it became lodged in her throat or something. I phone up the store I bought it from and they said to take it all back into the store and it will be sent away and investigated. Does anyone know how long this process takes? I am not happy as the consequences could have been horrific. They have also told me I cannot complain about it but I can take it back in and sit and wait for customer services to contact me! Is this right?

Um, I don't know if it's right, but you can bet your butt I'd be complaining about this.
Proud to be dealing with my debts :T

There probably isn't a great deal to "investigate". Some packaging got inside the pot by accident. I assume it was an accident, rather than company policy to try and choke their customers.

While the consequences could have been serious (although a large piece of plastic was presumably pretty visible and would not easily have been missed), there were, in fact, no consequences.

What do you want from Tesco?

I once found a pubic hair in a bowl of Jordans' crunchy stuff - they told me to send it in and they'd "investigate" - next thing I heard, they sent a cheque for £9.60 (iirc) through the post...How they arrived at that figure I have *no idea*...Make sure you take plenty of photos and stuff before you give it back - would be terrible if the evidence "went missing" :)

I agree there isn't a great deal for them to investigate, however it still happened and shouldn't have, Also as you say the plastic is very visible so how it got missed I don't know! I understand accidents happen, however it is the fact that it is still careless!

I want a refund for it, I also want a refund for the cost of the call to them and also a refund for the fuel used to get there, the local store is still approx 15-20 miles away! I have already been there once today and now have to go back so that the tuna does not start to smell!
I think I at least deserve an apology!

This is why companies get away with so much cause things are always questioned and no one complains about basic rights as a consumer!

Most prepared food is done by machine. There's no human eye checking each tub.

Accidents happen, unfortunately :o I'm sure if you write a letter to Tesco explaining what you'd like as compensation, they'll refund your out of pocket expenses.

A while back I phoned Tesco to complain that the pack of rocket I'd just bought was slimy and inedible. They asked me to bring it back for a refund, but when I explained that I lived 15 miles away so didn't want to make a special journey they told me to bring in the receipt and just explain what had happened.

I did, and was refunded without question.

A friend recently bough a prawn sandwich from Tescos and found a piece of what she thought was glass (turned out to be a stone out of someones ring) she took it back to the store and got a cheque for £25 as an apology. Tescos in my experience are usually pretty good about these things

I ate at Frankie & Benny's a week ago, and in the middle of my burger with blue cheese sauce was a piece of metal foil! Good thing I opened it up to take the gherkin out!!

The waiter came over, so I pointed it out, and his response was "oh, it's probably from the sauce sachet"!

No offer of a replacement, and I didn't want to make a fuss (was with colleagues!), but had to sift through the sauce to check for any more foil! eugh!

I also found 1cm square lumps of solid gristle in my Tesco finest burgers... Not so fine after all, if they use such cheap meat!
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

When I was a Saturday girl in a pie shop, a customer found a 2" square piece of hide inside a meat pie. Bleurgh.
