If you like chocolate and beer Bruges is THE place to go!

Chocolate - the museum and hundreds of chocolate shops. Beer - a brewery that you can tour and loads of pubs and bars including one which serves over 400 different beers!

I agree with all the Bruges recommendations above! It's beautiful. Ostend is okay, but a bit industrial (as it is a port!) and grubby I think.

I was looking at the p and o crossing from hull to zeebrugge, theats not too far from Bruges by the looks, might try a little taster that way, thanks everyone for your help:D
