*Baybee1984's Holiday 2009 Diary*

Okay so we're currently in the middle of planning next years holiday. We plan to take our little boy abroad for the first time..
Thought Id make a blog type thread to record the whole experience from the planning, booking, saving the pennies, up until the actual holiday.. and mainly to get advice and tips as I go along!! :)

If anyones currently doing the same thing, join in!! :)

Okay so, we're looking at going May/June time next year, preferbly Spain/Balearics [cant imagine a longer plane journey with DS, ahh lol] Reallllly hoping to find one with a free child place, am getting mixed reactions as to whether theres many left [am waiting on my travel agent friend to get bk to me! :)]. We originally were looking at All Inclusive, but understand not many free child places avail with that so open to other ideas but fingers crossed we find something. Think we're planning on going travel agents at the end of this week..
Anyone recently booked a similar holiday??

what age is your boy that might change who and where class him as an occupant etc. i.e. we're of to Majorca in September with a 3 year old and 1 year old, for the flights the 3 year old counts but in the hotel we've only had to pay for the two adults and the two kids are both free as All-Inclusive, we've done it DIY with the hotel direct. (he stays free until he turns 7 then is half price until 14 if we ever choose to go back, the room stays teh same price as it's not per person)

We went for majorca after doing a 4hr+ flight to Turkey when he was 18 months. you live and learn.........

He's 4, he'll be 5 when we plan to go..

Yeh I can imagine, hence why we're planning on Spain or Balearic Islands too.. any longer on a plane would be a nightmare lol

    Hiya and welcome.
Will your hols have to be around the school breaks as he will be 5 years????
If winter comes, can spring be far behind?
    Spring begins on 21st March.

We're looking at May/June as wayy too expensive in Summer Hols. We're hoping to book in next few weeks [if we find something good!! :)] so will put the request in with the school as soon as he goes back in September!

As long as you put a request into the school with plenty of notice and it doesnt clash with anything important such as exams then the school are pretty good about it. The school only allow it if the child has over 92% attendance, my boy never has a day off school unless really necessary, hes only had 1 afternoon off this whole school year so his attendance is good.

Thats why we decided to go nearer the end of school term, rather than Sept/Oct at the beginning of term, as dont want him to have to miss any of the beginning of school term.
