iPhone 3g contract?
Hi, I keep reading that you won't be able to buy it unless you sign a contract there and then, unlike the old iphone. There are already some on Ebay selling as pre-order unlocked, so there is a way to get hold of them. Does anyone know if they definitely will be sold only to people who sign the contract in-shop? There's always Ebay which is where I got my last one from, but in the first couple of months it may actually work out cheaper this time round to buy it officially and get it unlocked...
Edit: Just found out it will be available on payg, albeit 'later this year' according to O2 website. Wonder how much?

Fr. Stack: While you were out, I got the keys to your car. And drove it into a big wall. And if you don't like it, tough. I've had my fun, and that's all that matters.

Don't forget - this is eBay. They might promise one thing and supply another. It might be the "pre-order" means you have to wait until they can be supplied, in which case the "supplier" holds your money.
Look at it this way - the only legit suppliers in the UK are Apple, O2 and CPW. At the moment, Apple are not selling them (they can't handle contracts) and O2 and CPW will require you to sign a contract (£30 for 18 months minimum - £540). The minimum cost will therefore be £640.
I would therefore suspect any iPhone 3G that appears on eBay for less than this to be a little dodgy (either fell off the back of a lorry, was stolen, re-badged iPhone or, if you're lucky, an employee from Apple/O2/CPW trying to make themselves a mint).*I reserve the right to have an opinion, the right to change this opinion and the right to be wrong.*Hope that helps.
