Change from Orange Contract to PAYG

Hello all!

Have had a search on this subject but cant find anything which answers my question..

Basicly i've got a contract with orange which ive been on for just over 2 years and to be honest is possibly the worst contract ever! Started off at £29 a month but has worked its way up to £37 a month over time with their small add-ons but have never been bothered to phone them up and complain.

But recently money has started to be a bit tight and have had a look on their website and basicly want to change my Contract to PAYG (Dolphin Package - £10 with 300 free texts)

I tried to phone them on Thursday and got through to 1 of their great Call Centres which sounded like people from another planet, i was thrown around about 3 departments where none could understand me nor could i understand them when they kept asking if i already had a sim card and already had my contract.

Basicly can i get a PAYG simcard and phone them up to register it and get them to transfer the number and simply stop the direct debit to my contract :?

Sorry if its a long post but dont have a clue how i go about switching from Contract to PAYG!

Thanks and look forward to reading the replies.

as far as i am aware, just cancel your contract, cancel your direct debit
send a copy of your canceled direct debit with your cancellation letter. (you will probably have to give them a months notice)

go to the website, get a new free simcard, ring orange and they will register
your card and transfer your number when your contract is just about to run out. easy peasy. worked for me.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Phone CS and give them 30 days notice to cancel your contract and they will ask if you want to keep your number when you transfer to PAYG.

If you ring 150 from your handset and ask to terminate, they will transfer you to another department, either they can offer you a deal that is to good to reject or else you just ask to go onto PAYG, they will send you out a som card which will take about 30 days to arrive as you have to give 30 days notice and then you have to make sure that you register that sim card by telling them that you have received their sim card, this will then terminate the contract and your number will be moved onto PAYG.
Don't just buy a sim card, your number will not be moved and your contract will continue to run
