Video Editing Software

Does anyone know of any good video editing software I can use on a PC that is either free or has a free trial available? I have got Windows Movie Maker on my computer but it crashes a lot, which is rather annoying. Thanks in advance.

    Hello.
There are many free programs at "dvdvideosoft.com", and more to come.

Video editing progs are not very forgiving for poor PC component choice and can often lock up. You might need to fix your hardware crashes first.

Chances are it's just WMM being shoddy.
They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it

Adobe give free 30 day trials for Premiere Elements here.

Ulead's VideoStudio is worth a look, too. 30 day trial here.

WMM is unstable on all pc's. It's not a proper video editing app.
Ubuntu is an ancient African word, meaning: 'I can't configure Debian'.

Not true. I'm a regular user of WMM, ave been for about 5 years now and have never had a serious issue with it. I had a minor one once that was fixed instantly by updating my graphics drivers.

OP, I'd investigate the issue and see if you can get it working before trying others as it's a pretty good feature. I've made some very nice vids using WMM, including my Mum's wedding video.
The pen is mightier than the sword, and considerably easier to write with.

Thanks to everyone for the recommendations. I've used Premiere Elements before and already tried to get a trial but Adobe are apparently not making trials available for another month for maintenance or something.

I doubted that it was my PC because a friend just got a brand new laptop and WMM crashes a lot for her on both her laptop and her dekstop. It has a general reputation for being a bit rubbish really. The features aren't as good as on Adobe's Premiere Elements, it's a bit basic. (:
