New 3g iphone with free UK Landline bolt on - a good deal?

Hi there is a bit of confusion about this online on the 02 website but I have been told that if I take out the £35 per month tariff or above I will get a free bolt on to choose. If this is true I will choose the Unlimited UK Landline calls bolt on but is it the best value bolt on?

I am trying to justify the cost of the line rental with the fact I will get free ulimited data and landline calls which will mean a lower home broadband bill and virtually no landline calll charges. However it all sounds too good to be true to be honest.

I don't see how it will lower the broadband bill, especially as you are not allowed to use it to provide access for a computer.

As for which is the best value bolt on, it depends on what your usual usage is. If you ring a lot of landlines then it is a good idea. If you have your friends and family mostly on O2 and you therefore mostly ring O2 mobiles, you might want to choose the O2 to O2 bolt on instead.

Difficult to see how any of those bolt-ons are going to add value. Maybe free landlines or free weekend calls.

Where did you get the information about the free bolt-on? Was it an offer made to just you?

I'm currently with O2 (out of contract) and looking to get the iPhone. Was wondering if they'd chuck in free home broadband or something like that. Or maybe if I went via CPW, I could try for a discount if I agree to take Talk Talk. Unlikely, I know....

Hi I just meant I would use my pc less, wouldn't even attempt downloading anything like a tv show on an iphone.

The free bolt on is a rumour online that I also was told in store. Its only for tariffs £35 and above though, will just need to wait and see.
  • Unlimited wifi and unlimited web are the free bolt ons on the iphone tariffs. If you want the landline bolt on you need to pay £7.50 a month.

The pick a free bolt on promo is only for standard non iphone tariffs.

The website is confusing it did claim that for £35 a month iphone tariffs, and I was told by o2 customer services that I would get a free bolt on.

However have just ordered my iphone on the o2 website and no free bolt on.:(

Am just glad I got to preorder the phone, will get the bolt on if it works out better value, than a home phone deal.

on the £35 pmth deals you can choose whatever bolt on you like. i had the choice with my N95, not with an iphone admitadely. i would go with unlimited data and maybe connect to your pc as your internet provider??

The iPhone tariffs are different to normal tariffs, and come with unlimited data (and, AFAIK, no choice of any other bolt-ons). As with all O2 tariffs, you are not allowed to connect your computer to the internet using your phone as a modem.
