Hi still having problems but that is because when I go the instructions that were provided by espresso, it tells me that the screen looks like,

    whnetconproperties.gif

However my version of this does not have the centre tab 'wireless networks' which is the real issue I think. So makes me think that there

    1. Is either a problem with my laptop, but I only use this wirelessly at home or

    2. I haven't set up the livebox correctly, however, it works fine via the ethernet cable and I can see the wireless signal when I look for it.

    Help!!

Sounds like your system is failing to detect the wireless adapter
Does your laptop have a wifi on/off button? maybe you have caught it by accident?.
Check out device manage to make sure your wireless adapter is listed in there with no exclamation marks.

Are you definitely looking at the properties of the wireless adaptor?

go to start > network connections (or go via control panel if using classic start menu)
right click on the wireless connection and click on properties

sounds like you are clicking on the eithernet in the taskbar rather than the wireless cards icon

Nope still only ever get the two tabs. When I disconnect the ethernet cable, the laptop switches to wireless, but it doesn't change the tabs. When I plug the cable in, it switches again. Weird!

    Thanks for your efforts

not weird that is what its supposed to do, configure the router as you want regarding security, unplug the cable and reboot, set your pc up

ps some routers are programmed to only allow new clients for a set time, say 10mins, after that you will have to power down router, wait a minute before switching back on. wait another min and then boot pc.
