Thanks to this site my Mum's car won't be written off!

My Mum had a bump in her car last week, she was only going slowly and the front wing, headlamp, bumper etc were damaged. After a week the insurance rang and said it was a write off  ! We couldn't believe it but they said the damage would cost more to put right than the car was worth and offered us £2200. We were gutted, there is no way Mum could get a car as good as she had for that amount, her car is a V reg diesel with low mileage and was in great condition. We couldn't believe the amount of damage warranted it being written off. So I came straight here and searched the discussion threads! I soon found several people had similar experiences and found out the amount of damage had categories A, B, C and D and it depends which category of damage whether it could be repaired or not (A being the worst and an instant write off, D being fairly minor damage). So we questioned the insurance company and suddenly they admitted she could get the car repaired and they would give her £1900! They faxed the engineer's report (after posting the wrong report...) and we got our local garage to check it out, and although it will cost nearly that amount to repair (turns out it needs a new radiator too) my Mum will still have her car! It just has to have an MOT after the repairs to prove that it's roadworthy again. So here's a HUGE THANK YOU to all fellow Money Savers! :T :T :T
