PAC code not working..

I've got my PAC from Vodafone and intend to use quidco to subscribe to another sim-only deal and get some cashback, however when I enter the PAC on the vodafone website I get:

" Sorry,
There has been a problem with this port request, please try again or uncheck the porting box to order without porting your number"

I have double checked the PAC with CS, and it is correct.

Surely I should be able to use the PAC to move from one Vodafone deal to another?

Also, can I buy the sim card with a new number, and move my existing number at a later stage? Using the PAC through Vodafone CS? If so, how long does it take to transfer the number?

Nope, you cannot use a PAC within the same network.
Find a cheap PAYG sim and port to that; You should then be able to port back again. Normally takes about a month, best to check with the PAYG provider timescales etc.

Does anybody have any recommendations? Which provider can I use temporarily without any hassle?

Any provider should be ok to use, porting nowadays only takes about two working days, the number that you want to port onto should be active by the port date
    Hope this helps

I know you say you have double checked the PAC, but could it be a problem with entering zeros as the letter O or vice versa?

It is the correct PAC, if I change it I get the following message:

    " Sorry,
The ‘keep your number’ details entered are incorrect. Please check the details and try again."

But like already mentioned, perhaps you cant use PAC from one company to the same company.. Strange, but might be true.

Can you not just ask Vodaphone to swop the numbers from one account to the other?

No mobile service provider will let you port a number internally, it's called a back door upgrade. Therefor it is not a new contract, so you would not qualify for the cashback. Vodafone is also unlikely to swap your number from one of their accounts to another of their own accounts, for the same reason.
I know it is the long way around, but porting it to another operator is the only way around that.

After all that I phoned up Vodafone and told them I've heard of people getting the same deal I had for £9.99, could I also get that deal? No problem he said.. So Im not gonna bother with the cashback for now - saves me porting between providers. :)

Thanks for your help though, useful to know anyway. :)
