Travel Lodge breakfast not acceptable
Comments
-
it was not acceptable and of poor quantity and quality.
The thing because it didn't meet your specific definition of breakfast doesn't mean it's not acceptable and of poor quality. You wouldn't know about be quality because you haven't even eaten it!
Dave Brooker did make a very good point, you can't get more basic than a travel lodge which again goes against your argument above because if your choosing the most basic of accommodation you can't expect the same sort of products that you'd get in a Hotel.
If you used those words to the person you were complaining to which as I've already mentioned technically aren't correct anyway you wouldn't have done yourself any favors. If you nicely and politely explained you thought it might have been a cooked breakfast and were very well mannered and friendly when you explained this I bet you would have got a refund there and then.
This follows my ongoing point that the British do not know how to complain.0 -
God the breakfast isn't that bad. It's meant for people who are leaving early next morning. It's just your typical breakfast without being cooked. Cereal, croissant, orange juice.
Got agree with you 100 per cent. I have had these many a time and whilst they are not good value, they are quick and nourishing if you need to leave early. The buffet style breccies are very variable from one TL to the next.

Also agree the breakfast is ok as a quicky. The cereal tastes fine (those kellogs things are a great invention, lol) and we got some juice, a peice of fruit and a croissiant.
Its not a 4 star meal, but does to get you goingGreen and White Barmy Army!0 -
It's a Travelodge, so given the rooms are generally dirt cheap, and most don't have a kitchen facility, then you can't really expect much for breakfast. It even has a photo of it on the website:
Seems you got what they describe as "breakfast" as opposed to "buffet breakfast".
My parents take their mini fridge with them when staying at travelodge, so can have cold fresh milk and cereal for brekkie!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

Actually, my dad fills it with beer so he can have a cold'un when he gets in, but there's usually enough space for the orange juice and milk too!! They also plug into car cigarette lighter sockets, so rather useful things!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')

Methinks your dad and I could be good pals as we are birds of a feather
I am just leaving the house now to go to Manchester and stay at the Sportcity TL.
I can well recommend this one , as the best greasy spoon cafe in the known universe is just outside. None of those breccies in a bag for me this week!

Ok Guys perhaps I have got it wrong. It was just the fact that the food was poor not expected and not of value that I would have expected, and I had realised this was not a 4 star hotel. I did nicely and politely explained I thought it might have been a cooked breakfast and we were very well mannered and friendly when we explained this, the receptionist agreed, the manager by phone that day said she would contact customers service for us on Monday which she did. Thanks for your input uktim29  but I believe that British do know how to complain, or jump to conclusions to ones nationality. Thanks anyway.0

Can you clarify glynpam, were you actually offered a breakfast, or did the hotel seemingly accept your cancellation?
I agree that you may have expected too much, but that does not detract from the fact that you were not given the opportunity to accept it (I am assuming that the one that you were shown was not specifically for you).
I don't think I explained myself very well above (it was late, I'd had wine!). There are two ways that you can look at the situation:
If customer services are saying that it was not possible to cancel the breakfast, then you should have been given it, whether you wanted it or not. In not doing so, they were in breach of contract.
I think that what is more relevant is that the hotel, as representatives of Travelodge, accepted your cancellation and stated (implied?) that you would be refunded. As the hotel accepted your cancellation, and therefore the contract was cancelled, the fact that customer services later said that it was not cancellable is irrelevant.Gone ... or have I?0 -
What does a 'Breakfast to Go' box consist of?
A Kellogg's cereal pot (complete with spoon and milk), Kelloggs Nutri-Grain bar, orange juice, dried fruit and a cake.
That was their old breakfast box - they now have a Breakfast Bag:
'The handy bag includes PG Tips tea or Kenco sustainable coffee, a cereal pot, a fairtrade flapjack or cereal bar and a natural fruit smoothie'.
I ordered one of these about 3 weeks ago, there was no de-caff coffee option, the cereal is Granola (over sweet and 'orrible), the dog chewed on the flapjack for about 20 mins and the smoothie was warm. The bag is nice and sturdy tho :rotfl:
As one who spends at least one night a week in a Travelodge I can throughly reccommend the McD's bagle with jam for brekkie:D
PS
Just remembered - I failed to receive a breakfast bag one morning and got a refund on my credit card from the front desk before I left. Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree!0
