Hey Omar! :hello:
Can't pretend to be in my 20s any more (if only...! :rotfl:), but wanted to congratulate you on "seeing the light" at such a young age and dealing with it now. Yes, its hard to stay in (at any age!
) when your friends are all out and enjoying themselves, but I'd be willing to bet that at least one of your friends (if not more) will be putting some drinks or a meal on their credit card tonight (or perhaps they bought a new outfit/shoes to go out and charged those?!), and in 3 or 4 years time, or maybe longer, they will be where you are now, i.e. realising that they need to sort it out, but perhaps they will be deeper in debt than you are, because its taken them longer to get to their lightbulb moment.
I guess what I am trying to say is well done on taking the problem in hand now and dealing with it, rather than sticking your head in the sand and hoping it will go away (it very rarely does, as anybody on this board will tell you - lottery winners are actually very few and far between, despite what Camelot would have us think!). In a few years time, when your friends are cutting back and having to deal with the fallout of partying hard in their early 20s, you will be debt-free and able to go out, buy new clothes, go on nice holidays, and even get onto the housing ladder, because you will be that much further ahead in terms of "money-savvy-ness" (and no, I don't think thats an official term for it, but it covers what I mean!!
).
Keep up the good work - it will be worth it in the end! :T

Hey Omar, I wish I had been your age when I had my lightbulb moment. I am 33 and have to curb my nights out now. I went out last night, spent £2 to see a band in a local club and drank diet coke all night so I didn't spend money. It seems hard, but by heck kid, if you can sort your financial head out now it will be for the best in the long run. Good luck.LBM £18463.32 in debt 10th June 2008,£12470.99 in debt 10th June 2009.:jTime flies like an arrow.
