Kind Hearts and Coronets
As a result of his mother's marriage to an Italian commoner, Louis Mazzini (Dennis Price) is shunned by the aristocratic D'Ascoyne family. Resentful that he has grown up without the trappings of wealth and privilege, and spurned by his sweetheart Isabella (Joan Greenwood), Louis decides to permanently remove all the D'Ascoynes that stood between him and the dukedom to avenge his mother.

Billy Liar
Billy Fisher (Tom Courtenay) constantly dreams of escaping his working-class life employed as an undertaker's assistant - so much so, he spends most of his time daydreaming about Ambrosia, a fantasyland he has created where he is the adored leader. His truth-deficient stories soon earn him the nickname "Billy Liar" and land him in increasingly hot water as he finds himself simultaneously engaged to free spirit Liz (Julie Christie), the homely Barbara (Helen Fraser) and raunchy Rita (Gwendolyn Watts).

Colditz Story
During World War II, Germany's ultimate fortress - Colditz Castle - was selected for housing prisoners who had tried to escape from every prison in which they had previously been held. Two such prisoners, British Officer Captain Pat Reid (John Mills) and his buddy "Mac" McGill (Christopher Rhodes) even believe they can break out of the castle and suggest cooperation between the different contingents, leading an escape through a subterranean tunnel. But do they succeed?
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0047945/
The Lavender Hill Mob
A seemingly mild-mannered bank clerk (Alec Guinness) masterminds a gold bullion robbery from the Bank of England. Enlisting the help of a small businessman (Stanley Holloway), the pair hatch a plot to disguise the gold as Eiffel Tower memorabilia. It all goes terribly wrong when the souvenirs are mixed up with genuine ones and sold to a group of English schoolgirls.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0044829/
School for Scoundrels (or How to Win Without Actually Cheating!)
Being embarrassed at a tennis match by Raymond Delauney (Terry Thomas) in front of the lady of his dreams is the final straw for the constantly down-on-his-luck Henry Palfrey (Ian Carmichael). In sheer desperation, Palfrey enrols at Alastair Sim's unorthodox College of Lifemanship where the students learn the art of "one-upmanship" and "gamesmanship" - a crash course on how to cope with life's hilarious humiliations without actually cheating.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0054279/
Titfield Thunderbolt
When an antiquated railway line is threatened with closure, the village community decide to make a bid to run it themselves, backed by a rich member of the community. Unfortunately, the local bus company starts to use methods that can hardly be seen as fair competition, to the extent that the whole project is threatened. This leads to both parties entering into frenzied competition with comical results!
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0046436/
Far From The Madding Crowd
John Schlesinger's solid adaptation of Thomas Hardy's novel sees three rival suitors vying for the affections of the beautiful, hardworking and strong willed Bathsheba Everdene (Julie Christie) who, having just inherited a country estate, insists on managing it herself. Gabriel Oak (Alan Bates), the handsome, strapping shepherd, with a penchant for animal husbandry and farming, is the one most suited to her. William Boldwood (Peter Finch), an older, wealthy, neighbouring landowner, adores her and obsesses over making her his wife. Sgt. Frank Troy (Terence Stamp), a hunky, rakish grenadier, knows opportunity when he sees it and sets about charming her, despite the fact that his heart belongs to another.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0061648/
The Man in the White Suit
Sidney Stratton (Alec Guinness) is a maverick scientist working in a Northern textile mill. When he invents a fabric that never gets dirty and never wears out he is immediately hailed as a genius. At first his employers are overjoyed at their new product but soon they realise that it will have a knock on effect on their industry and try to suppress it. When rumours reach the workers' union they too react and Sidney finds his invention is the most hated thing in Manchester!
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0044876/
Passport to Pimlico
When a bomb is accidentally detonated in the London area of Pimlico, a cache of buried treasure and documents are revealed, declaring the area technically a part of Burgundy, France. Freed from post-war British rationing, the inhabitants begin to enjoy the privileges of a sovereign state. They soon recognise, however, that maintaining an independent state is more difficult than they realise, what with the British government's attempts to starve the community into submission.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0041737/
The Ladykillers
When Louisa Wilberforce - a seemingly delicate little old lady - takes in Professor Marcus (Guiness) as a lodger she seems unaware of just how sinister he and his friends are - truly believing that they are musicians. When she finally finds out that they have carried out a robbery, her first thought is about returning the money to its rightful owner rather than her own safety. When the villains find out that she knows all, they plot to kill her. But this little lady isn't quite as harmless as she seems...
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0048281/
Great St Trinians Train Robbery
Leaving a trail of arson behind them, the St Trinians schoolgirls are always on the move. Headmistress Amber Spotswood (Dora Bryan) is more than "just friends" with the Minister of Schools. Armed with a government grant she re-houses her wayward girls in yet another home - Hamingwell Grange. What she doesn't know is that the Great Train Robbers got there before her, leaving £2.5 million hidden under the ballroom stage!
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0060476/
Cruel Sea
At the start of World War II, Commander Ericson (Hawkins) is assigned to captain the brand new ship HMS Compass Rose with inexperienced officers and men just out of training. The winter seas make life miserable enough, but the men must also harden themselves to rescuing survivors of U-Boat attacks, while seldom able to strike back. The men are the heroes, the heroines are the ships. The villain is the cruel sea...

The ad. on classic FM for the Telegraph Shakespeare DVDs said that it was the Judi Dench version Macbeth. I can't remember which Lear they said it was, but I don't think they mentioned the animated tales at all.0
