Cheap Kitchens???

I want to put a new kitchen in my house but haven't got a clue where to go to get it. I've been round all the bricks and mortar shops I can think of and Ikea is the cheapest I can find for what I want. The units will cost about £950 and the appliances(built in fridge freezer, oven, hob, cooker hood and washer/drier) about £1000

Does anyone know of anywhere online where I can get good quality units and appliances at a good price??

Hope someone can help??

Cheers

Ian

  • I got a kitchen about 3 years ago from focus diy, you pick the kitchen and buy the flat pack there and then - it still looks as good 3 years later.
Shop about for the appliances, if you have a bennetts near you they are pretty good on thier prices, but I think someone said focus had a £10 hob. I picked one up when I did my kitchen for 23 from B&Q.

Avoid MFI, they seem to be twice the price even with a 70% off sale. If you live near Devon and Cornwall, try Trago Mills..... They don't do internet, but I had a huge kitchen for £1800

i have had two B&Q kitchens in the last two years (nothing wrong with them i just moved house) and they are reasonably cheap and often have offers on for half price doors etc, they also have cheap appliances and the bigger wharehouse B&Q's often have really good offers on a few dishwashers or washing machines, iceland (frozen foods) have cheap appliances. The most expensive thing is often getting your kitchen fitted... I was fortunate to know a joiner who fitted the lot for a reasonable price, try to find someone in a local paper rather than getting B&Q or whoever to fit it.

IKEA - & make sure you apply for their store card - pay it off in full as soon as you get the bill - 5% off first purchase on it.

There is no point in buying units and appliances at the same place. Buy units from Ikea, than chose appliances and look for the best prece at price comparision sites (see links in the blue box above) or use google for every specific item. There is no point in buying all appliences at the same place too, although you can lose in price, but save in delevery ...
  • My old man paid peanuts for his including the appliances - how? he went when they had a sale on the day it was ending and bought the 'demo' one. They usually have sales when they're changing their range so the display one would be getting ripped out so they gave him a massive discount. Think it was 3grand down to £700

    Hi Ian,

Try looking at the site of arena-kitchens.co.uk (Alaris Ltd). The quality of units is first class, they are supplied as rigid units. The site is huge and will cover everything you could possibly want for a new kitchen.

This time last year we embarked on a major refurbishment of our kitchen with our 'own builder'. The house is Victorian and the biggest part of the job was the building aspect of taking the kitchen back to a brick shell, rewiring, plastering etc etc etc. I sourced all the units from Arena, although I discovered that they are made locally (midlands) by a company called Medway and sold by them through a kitchen studio called Classic Kitchens. The price difference is huge. They also quoted me for Granite worktops from Albatops and appliances etc. Ultimatelythe Granite came from a local supplier and the appliances likewise after a fair bit of haggling on the price. The service from Arena was first class, the units arrived exactly to the day specified with no damage.

Should you have any questions please get back to me....
