Tryng to install XP SP3
Comments

Hello again
Just tried to install XP SP3 and got a couple of errors.
The first was a couple of errors saying couldn't back up certain registry keys and then an access denied for SP3 after "ignoring" the registry errors.
Anyone any ideas?:wall: Flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality - Am I flogging a dead horse? :wall:

I have tried a few times to install SP3 but without success. I've decided it can't be essential. What I was really wanting was to find the answer to Word having disappeared. I just can't find it. After wading through a lot of MS pages I was told to ask the manufacturer of the computer. That was no help either. I've now given up and installed Open Office.0

Providing you have a legit serial number, I believe there is a trial version you can download and then enter your serial to get the full version.
Given up all hope of installing SP3 - can't be that necessary as I have all the other updates anyway(!):wall: Flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality - Am I flogging a dead horse? :wall:

Another issue that I encountered the first time I tried to install SP3 is that if you leave any Spyware or Anti-Virus software running, they can lock files that the SP3 process needs to access, and the whole install process grinds to a halt.
So, make sure you've got any security software turned off, but remember to turn it back on again afterwards.
