At one stage flybe actually stated on their in-flight menu that only food and drinks purchased on board could be consumed on board. I imagine there was an outcry and/or it proved imposs. to police, but this particular prohibition disappeared after a while. It is worth noting that there is no legal reason per se why alcoholic drinks cannot also be brought and consumed on board. The airlines impose a ban simply to charge exhorbitant prices. Ryanair is one of the worst: beer £3.80; 18.75ml bottle of wine £5! I wonder that anyone buys anything at all! It is of course illegal not to obey the legitimate instruction of a member of crew - which virtually gives them carte blanche!0
