For my 10yr old brother he would probally appreciate a XBox or light saber of some discription lol. Anything that i gave him now wouldnt really have any value until hes older. He'd probally like an engraved tankard - just like the one dad has.
Good luck0 -
swiss army knife lots of blades?
I cut myself on one of those, still got it 33 years later!

How about an experience? It might not last for ever but will give him happy memories.
I was thinking of something like go-karting.Semper in faeces profundum variat

My answer to everything: name a star after him. Actually you can buy a piece of the moon now, more suitable to a boy I think!
It will last forever and always be there! Here they are after a quick google

Hi thanks for the ideas so far - some great ideas!
I really want something for him to keep, and i love the star/moonidea. however how detailed is it? The boy has limited reading and writing skills, so i'm a bit concerned about this.
A penknife would be great, but as there is a working relationship between us, i think a knife would be a no go!
any more ideas welcome!:j0 -
How about a nice watch, you could have a message engraved on the back.
We've just done this for my DS 1st birthday as well as other presents we choose a watch that was realased the year he was born 2007, we will have a message engraved on the back of it and then give it too him when he is 18.0 -

Going by my boys both in their early twenties, they really are not sentimental so would agree with one of the other posters the latest PS3/xbox Game etc etc would be more appreciated, or maybe latest football t shirt - Im just remembering back to when my boys were that age and it was the most recent Man U kit that they wanted the most.2008£3002009£13002010£15002011£41952012£21942013£1494

How about a scrapbook that you personalise with his name and a happy birthday message and put titles on pages for him to complete such as My Family; My Pet; My Room; Favourite Books; Favourite Things To Do; Favourite Food. He could use pictutes, photos and words to embellish each page
