Annoying calls from 08004082680

While everyone else wasat work today, my elderly, registered blind mother has been distressed to have these calls every five minutes, all day.
This evening, when I got back, the phone rang again - silent call. I 1471'd it and it was 0800 4082 680.
I rang up BT's 'nuisance calls helpline' and reported it as a nuisance call. They tried to sell me a "choose to refuse" service- to block the number. Gave me instructions on how to dial it in on a "28 day free trial". Dial it in tomorrow, the guy said.
A couple of hours later the phone rang again. Somebody from BT trying some gimmick to get me to switch over from Tiscali to BT for calls and broadband.
I wasn't buying, but I 1471'd the call: you guessed it: 0800 4082680....
Now let's get this straight. BT is making cold calls to the extent they become "nuisance calls" and then try to flog you a service to stop them???
And there isn't a law against that???0 -
We have recently started to receive calls from the 08004082680 number-I've found a website where you can 'supposedly' comment or complain about calls from this number http://www.phonespamfilter.co.uk/add.php/08004082680
might be worth registering a complaint......0 -
If its an 0800 number keep dialing them back as it costs them money.
Do the same to them as they do to you! If we all did that the company would be bankrupt in no time at all.0 -
I have been with TPS for some years. This 08004082680 number called me tonight with a silent call. The security guard at their HQ gave me an automated de-registration number 01915257304 to stop calls - it was not responding! As it was a silent call TPS cannot take the complaint. TPS were also unable to stop another company doing a "Survey" a couple of weeks ago as market research is exempt from TPS. Every time I take action, such as checking registering on TPS or on BT's service, or most recently when I went ex-directory on both my numbers, I got a rash of additional calls. Someone in the system is currupt. TPS works very well overall, but there are loopholes being taken advantage of. HM Government should include all calls in TPS and not make some types exempt.0

Did you register seperately for silentcallguard?0 -
I received a call from that number last night and the guy said he was from BT and wanted to confirm if I still got my line from BT and calls from another provider.0

I just received a call from 0800 408 2680. Luckily, I use this device: www.truecall.co.uk which handled the call for me - without my phone ever ringing!
Alternatively call the company that is calling you. They are called 2Touch (www.2touch.co.uk) and their number is 0800 694 4075 and they will remove your details from their database.0 -
had this same problem - finally tracked down 2touch and spoke to a guy there that put me on the 'don't call' list.
If you are having thsi problem call them on 0191 5257304 - this is the direct line to Michael, who is a chap that works there in the 'taking my numbe rof this call list' department.
Turns out, by the way, they had my number from BT (who already know I am on the TPS and are about to get a stern call...)0 -
This number has been calling us all day today, How do I stop them, I am registered with TPS can I report them:mad:0

These people have changed their number to 0800 408 2362 I think. I've been receiving calls from them "on behalf of BT". BT had been using various telemarketing companies to contact me but after several calls I finally threatened to report BT to the OFT and the TPS, and I was put through to a department that told me I had not asked to be removed from their marketing list, so I promptly did ask (and they told me it would take 28 days to action).
However, that is when the "silent calls" started. Silent calls are outside the TPSs jurisdiction and you need to complain to Ofcom about these nuisance calls. Their number is 0207 981 3040/1300 123 3333. And give them as much info as you can about 2Touch. Finally (thank you "hollydays") I called 2Touch on 01915 257304 and asked to be removed from their list, they were really polite about it and to be honest BT are the villains here not 2Touch. What is interesting though is that 2Touch have been in the news about a new predictive dialler system they employ to limit their employees' "idle time" (for idle time read: loo breaks, catching their breath). Their system automatically makes a call for the operator as soon as he/she has finished their previous call – no doubt the longer you let the phone ring the more chance you have of receiving the silent call, as someone else they have called has picked up before you.
Hmmm, it is nice to know that while they are increasing their workers' productivity, we are the victims of their super-efficient system.0
