Online application so-called 'instant decision'

Just curious. Has anyone ever had an 'instant decision' after applying online for a credit card? Although I've never been declined I always get the message: 'unfortunately we are unable to give you an instant decision but you should hear from us within 10 days...'.
The only time I did receive an instant decision was for a loan application.
I was hoping to apply for 2 today to give neither company enough time to find out about each other but this kind of blows my chances of doing that.

The reason people don't move right down inside the carriage is that there's nothing to hold onto when you're in the middle.

I think it depends on your credit history. If there is anything on it which the computer does not know how to handle or it does not agree with what you wrote on your application form then it will leave it for a human to make the decision.
In my case I have a linked address which always confuses them so I never get instant decisions and sometimes they phone up to ask me about it.
The chances are if you don't get an instant answer with one company you probably won't with the rest either.0 -

Sometimes the instant decision that you get is to the effect that they are unable to give you a positive instant decision but they are not saying that you will not be able to have a card in due course................................I have put my clock back....... Kcolc ym0

Declining their kind offer of Payment Protection Insurance can slow things down a bit..0

I've had an instant 'no' before. I've also had the '...within 10 days' reply too when there's been something not straightforward and a human has to process it.Mortgage-free wannabe!0

I recently applied for the Amazon Mastercard and was given an instant 'yes'. I also applied for a Lloyds TSB Platinum card and was given a 'yes' by email 24 hours later (not quite instant!)This space has been intentionally left blank0

The card I applied for was RBS platinum visa. I also noticed that although they mentioned that the payment protection insurance is 'optional' i was not given an option page for it. I wonder if that means they give it by default and then I have to write in or phone up to decline. That would be so wrong. The reason people don't move right down inside the carriage is that there's nothing to hold onto when you're in the middle.0

I applied for a Tesco VISA card (first ever card actually) and was given an instant yes.I also noticed that although they mentioned that the payment protection insurance is 'optional' i was not given an option page for it. I beleive Tesco is part of the RBS group in respect of credit cards and the payment protection yes/no is on the credit agreement you get sent in the post to sign.0
