Is there a fee for BT on this?
The reason people don't move right down inside the carriage is that there's nothing to hold onto when you're in the middle.

I think the best place I've found for instant decisions has to be Egg.

Alliance and Leicester are the worst in my opinion - they say instant decision by email within minutes, but my experience has been an email saying they'll tell me within 24 hours, then another one moments later saying 48 hours.

I wouldn't hold your breath on Capital One, they may say yes but they'll make you wait a while for it.

capital one said yes to me, always ask within the operating hours, becuase someone has to check your credit etc, thats why it had a banner flashing saying please wait.
    Kind Regards

It isn't a person checking your credit it is done via an automated computer system. You get credit scored by capital one and then credit checked by experian. If there is something they are not sure of the the application gets referred. If that happens a real person will look at it.

I've had instant "yes"ses from both Accucard and Nationwide CC when I applied for them online. (Nationwide even gave you the card account number instantly!)
Although I'm a student with little income, I also have fairly minimal and straightforward credit history so the applications probably didn't require human intervention.

  • I applied for a card for my wife (her first new card since cancelling her old ones 8 months ago)with Lloyds TSB yesterday, positive decision given within 30 mins....with no payment protection selected, also a 10k balance transfer requested at the same time. The credit agreement will be sent soon,so can i assume the balance tranfer was accepted?

I recently applied for three cards online (BA Amex, Barclaycard Platinum and Lloyds TSB) and none of them gave me an instant decision.

Incidentally, I wondered about whether or not to fill in the request forms for credit transfers at the application stage, or leave arranging the transfers till later.

In the end I left that part of the forms blank and made the transfers by phone when I activated the cards. But would my (quite low) credit limits have been set any higher if I had requested sizeable transfers? Does anyone know?

I thought i would try and get a high credit limit when i applied yesterday.

I didn't want to apply, then get offered 5k,i needed 10k,so i requested a 9900 balance transfer. The process may be automated, but my thinking was,i would do them a favour by taking out their card "IF" the could accomodate the transfer.

Of course,it was go pear shaped when the actual credit agreement comes through?

There are other people on the boards who might know for sure, but mine was just a guess.

By the way,we don't bank with Lloyds.
