I have just moved into my first house and want to get onto the internet but i don't want to get it through a landline, i'm not bothered about download limits or speed, although i don't want it to go at a snails pace.
Can anyone tell me what my options are?

If your in a Virgin Media Cable area you can get broadband only see

Otherwise have a look at Mobile Broadband from the likes of 3,Orange, T-Mob,Vodafone.0 -
Mobile broadband is the quickest option. I am on the web n walk with T-mob.0

Just make sure you ask someone that already has it to see how realiable or fast it really is. I have Vodafone Mobile Broadband, and with all and its claimed 7.2 Mbs speeds, I just get an average of 1/100th of that!!!!
I have wasted so much time calling them and all they can do is try to tweak my computer, even though my computer works perfect with all other types of connections.
Also bear in mind that these guys want to lock your business for at least for a significant period of time. My contract with Vodafone is for 24 months, unlimited usage, bla bla bla, which is just worthless and I am trying to find a way out using their ridiculous performance. Does anyone ever been able to negotiate a way out of a contract like this??0 -

I've just reconnected via my t-mobile web n walk and done a speedtest, I get the equivalent of 512 b/band speeds which I think is pretty impressive considering it's a phone. I have used it to stream tv via iplayer and the BBC previously.Weight loss since 01/08/07 - 72 lbs:j0
