Lizard Lady - nice to see you back. Thought you have started the thread and then forgotten all about us
If things are that tight, why don't you post up an SOA?
It will save you money."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
I haven't read the whole thread, but why does your husband not work?Gone ... or have I?0

Obvious really. He is out all day seeking employment. Ho HoThis is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !0 -
I understand that, and thats why i made the post to DISCUSS it, not to have everyone call me a sponger, and living off benefits all the time.
I am going to college to do Hairdressing, its a full time course for 3 years. Loads of kids dont even go to college when they leave school, they just sponge off their parents, do drugs, drink every weekend. But thats ok, because they're not on benefits. I had my daughter when i was 17, im 19 now, and i dont do drugs, i dont go out every weekend drinking. I look after my home and family. You can think what you like about people on benefits, but were not all the same, so please dont pre-judge me any more to be some lazy, fat girl on benefits who had a baby to get a flat and to never work again.
Excuse me but I dont think I said any of those things! I certainly did not prejudge you nor make any comments about your age or the fact you are on benefits.
I am 39 and dont do drugs or go out every weekend either becuase like you I cant afford it, and I am not on benefits so it is beyond me how people who are manage to!!!
Stick with your hairdresing course - but check if you are entitled to help with it - the worst they can say is no.Free/impartial debt advice: Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) | National Debtline | Find your local CAB0 -

Once all my bills have been paid, and food, nappies, etc has been bought, nothing is left in our pockets for a week until we next get paid. I dont claim for myself and then my husband works on the sly, we claim as a FAMILY! We are currently fighting off court letters from the bank and various others. I cannot afford to study, but if i dont, i dont stand much chance of ever finding a decent job. I am waiting to hear from the college on whether i can do a payment monthly plan to pay for my course.
£500+ 4 weekly is quite a respectable sum for just 2 adults and a baby. I am sure if you go to the OS board for meal ideas, then the discount coupons bit you will find lots of help with your budgeting. I usually save about £15 a week on my shopping bill by using money off coupons in Tesco. The last few weeks there have been £5 off coupons in the News of the World when you spend £30 in Tesco. If you need help try the Debt Free Wannabe board and post up your incomings and outgoings. They are very good on that board helping you to cut back.0 -
Good luck at college OP. Make sure you have a chat with the college welfare adviser - at my college, even though the nursery was full, they still helped towards childcare with an outside provider. Also, maybe your health visitor is aware of local groups (sure start/ new deal etc) that may be in your area who can also help. i received a great deal of help that way, inc printer/ink costs/ books etc.
i am now studying with the OU, who are equally, if not more so, helpful. As a single parent, with a disability, i am determined to get back to work one day - but for the moment, its benefits for me!0
