I wouldn't! A cheap last minute deal to the costa's is still much more economical.0 -
2000 or earlier! That figure is surely rubbish seeing as the average single wage is £25k?
The figure above suggests a 1x average paid worker (£25k) + a 1x PT low earning worker (£7.7k)
To me average means... 2 x working people on the singular average income of £25k, otherwise you have Mr average and Mrs Less average
and adding the 2 of them together doesn't = Mr and Mrs average:rotfl:
IMO anyway;)
Did NOT mean to thank you!
Can you not work out that most couples buying an average 3 bed family house have kids, if not immediately, then soon? And that very few women with kids work full time (esp with young kids) and that the salaries of those who work part-time are far, far lower than the pro-rata of full-time salaries? They shouldn't be, but they are. It's very hard for most women with kids to find a job that will fit in with school hours/holidays; the alternative is to pay for childcare, to fit in with working hours and commutes, which is not cheap! (Certainly takes a large bite out of your supposed 50K).
No - the reason the second salary is, as you correctly calculate, only around 7K is because (unless it's a gay couple) if one of the two is a women, they're usually a stay-at-home mum, or a part-time worker.
Hence the 32K figure.
That's why I expect average UK prices to fall back to around 3/3.5 times that figure, ie around 100K. Or in my (richer, down south) area, around 2000 prices ie 175-200K.0 -

not for much longer with the way fuel prices are going,
and it's almost inevitable that at some point aviation fuel will lose it's special tax status for 'environmental' reasons. It's a health benefit ...0 -

But then there's even more chance of a break-up and extra fees when the mortgage has to be rearrangedgirleight@ wrote: »Maybe in future people could get together in larger groups I'm sure a "triple" would find it easier to buy a house :rotfl: :rotfl:

The last time we bought houses in artificial family groupings was the mad rush in 1989 to get double mortgage tax relief by unmarried couples - who often split up and sold in the 1990s downturn.0 -

2003Yea.
It's best to arrange your mortgage to fit your life, rather than your life to fit your mortgage.0 -

What a confusing poll. Took me a full 5 mins to figure !!!!!! the thread starter was on about. I was convinced it was a thread originally started in 1999 or something from looking at the poll options.
Silly thread.
Rob
The reason Rob, is because different parts of the Country(ies) are at a different stage in the HPI/D Cycle. For instance Scotland's still positive YOY, where as Northern Ireland is dropping like a stone! I was Interested to see at what point of time people thought HPD would go back to.
Hope that explains?0 -
It was meant as a joke but I supposed some people do buy with friends etc.0
