I was dissappointed that most of the items on offer were only large enough for one person.
  • Myself and other half bought the meal for 2 this morning. But come tea time we only had one thing on our minds - dessert lol, so we skipped the main course and have just eaten all the profiteroles between us! Thats enough for tonight! :D Can have the main course tomorrow!

I can't make this out at all - can't think of one item I saw that wasn't enough for 2???
I got 3 chickens, picked out the biggest ones I could find - 2 of us only managed to eat about half of it for supper, it was lovely though - not like horrible supermarket rotisserie chickens. Also had profiteroles - there were 14 in the packet, no way could we eat all of them. The chickens can be frozen as well, so 1 has gone in the freezer, we'll eat what's left over the next couple of days, including sandwiches for work. Best of all - no cooking, and no pans to wash up!

I am amazed that this is a Grabbit bargain post when it is nationally advertised on TV and in the press. And then we have to read what people have bought for their meals, and their experience in M & S stores. Am I getting confused but how is that money saving, it's more like a chat room ??

I know I am relatively new and I hope no-one minds if I pontificate a little but I just wanted to say to theloft, that yes on some of these threads we all get a bit cosy and chat about our deals and our experiences, but that is what makes a thread really for some of us, the human experience and not just the details of the offer.

I know some threads out there in the financial areas are more to the point, but a lot of the others are more relaxed. Yes, maybe it is a bit like a chat room, but is that a bad thing? As long as it's on topic for the thread I think it's fun to hear what people say. As you have been told, noone forces you to read past the first post which tells you about the offer!

Oh forgot to say, my local M and S was a bit limited yesterday when we got there but we got two cooked chickens, the yummy caesar veg which had asparagus in, the profiteroles which were too much for two plus two summer puddings. The wine we chose was a slightly sparkling rose wine which was absolutely delicious.

By the way, if you heat the whole chicken back up in the oven for about 35 to 40 mins the skin goes reallllllllly crispy and delicious! We have eaten one and the other is frozen. The cat had some lil scraps of chicken too so even she was happy, and of course the carcass has been boiled to make stock.
To be frugal, you need to spend money wisely, simply spending less is not enough.

  • I went today and got the chicken mozarella, the Pasta, the profiteroles and the red wine. Hubby and I were really looking forwards to it - a rare treat!

Just been to the fridge (at work) and someone has stolen it.... Not a happy bunny :(

Oh that is awful honey, what a mean thing to do!! I believe in karma though - what goes around comes around - so they will be have their come uppence somewhere along the line.

  • Just been and bought my £10 dinner. Put the bag on the floor, the chocolate mousses on the roof of the car. Got in and took down the roof. Put the bags in the car footwell and thought! "where are the chocolate mousses?"

    Ahhhhhhh

Got the roof back on and there were the mouses. Luckily they were only a little squashed and a bit melted from the heat. I had an image of chocolate mousse spread all over the cloth roof of the car. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Pre-cooked chicken probably works out cheaper than raw when you take cooking it into account. We've just made our small Oakham chicken last 3 days for 4 of us.....3rd helping was a butter chicken curry, courtesy of Madhur Jaffrey book...thank you Madhur, it was delicious!

There wasn't much choice, we had the meatballs and salmon. Neither of them were enough for 2 and they weren't particulary nice either. The two bottles of wine we had were not very good either.
I must say I find M&S food very over rated.
  • Well, I don't usually shop at M & S but the food we had for our £10 was lovely. The chicken was very flavoursome and fed both of us twice and the profiteroles were a very generous portion, so we had great value out of it. I am sure not all the food lives up to the hype of the adverts - what does? But I was very impressed with my £10 meal.
