    Go to your Keyboard settings via control panel (should be under regional settings as mentioned above)

    regional settings/language page/details you will see the keyboards installed there remove all but uk.
    If you are talking about an application such as openoffice it will be under options/languages.
    click here to achieve nothing!

    Easier way is this

    Start > Run > Type "INTL.CPL" > hit "OK"

    Now you are in the screen for your keyboards regional settings.

    Check all 3 tabs and make sure UK is selected where needed.
