Jury service while pregnant?

I'm counsel, not a solicitor, and I do little criminal work these days - I now do mostly immigration, and I've not been in a Mags Court for ages. I'm prosecuting a trial starting tomorrow, but that's the first criminal trial I've done for a while, and is immigration-related crime....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0

How far pregnant will you be?
I was called for when I'd be about 36 weeks pregnant, I wrote (I think I photocopied the front page of my maternity notes) and said I was pregnant and would be on maternity leave until September - they recalled me in October.0 -
I've been called up twice, the 2nd time they excused me with no argument as I was in the middle of my university finals.0

I called up just after my baby was born so I wrote in and said that I wasn't able to do jury service as I was breastfeeding and didn't have anyone to babysit. This was accepted.0

Very sensible I think - from what I can gather there's no (well less) money in crime these days - there's certainly less criminal firms locally now, and alot less work to go around.
JxxAnd it looks like we made it once again
Yes it looks like we made it to the end0 -
In fact, I ended up not prosecuting it, as there was a last-minute plea. To drag the matter back on topic, I guess there were 12 irritated people, as we were doing jury selection....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0
