If you defer it, you might not even be called again! I deferred when I was at university as I was called in the area I was registered to vote (ie my parents house) when I was actually living at university. That was nearly ten years ago and I haven't been called again...

i can't find a link anywhere but i'm pretty sure mothers who are breastfeeding newborn babies are not expected to serve jury duty. As for being pregnant, i'm not sure.

    Thanks for all your posts.
I shall send off my form asking to be deferred on the grounds that I am on my annual leave and I will try the pregnancy card too!
    Fingers crossed it'll work!

I think that information is well out of date - I think (although correct me if I'm wrong) that nurses, doctors and the like cannot refuse any longer.
I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?

You can refuse/deferr if you are pregnant, not sure what happens when the child is born. :) If its like with me, they will just get the child when he reaches the age (I got called when I was 22, my mother deferred when she was preg with me, they never called her back) Not sure if rules have changes since.

    Check your work contract,

I think the only time out of work permitted is jury service
Life is about give and take, if you can't give why should you take?
