No. You should get a small external broadband modem when you sign up with a broadband provider (Eg BT-Broadband, Tiscali Broadband etc).

But it's a useful backup if you're broadband provider ever goes down. And you can use it to send Faxes..
  • Thanks for this, order confirmed for £277! :D - now was the time for a upgrade

Has anybody got specs for the motherboard on this one? From reading the US site, I'm assuming it's an Intel 945P chipset, and the only difference between the 5100 and 5150 is RAID support....but there's no mention of number of USB ports on the front, firewire etc....that kind of thing?
  • Would you also buy the video or sound card. Will my old speakers fit and do I need some anyway

The Dell 5150 is a much better machine, it's expandable, you don't need a rack to put a floppy in, good audio and it comes with a P4 2.8ghz HT. And you can get a Dell 17" tft for around £140.

what is good about the audio? does it have digital out?

No firewire on this, front has two USB plus audio in and out. Back has 6 USBs but remember one is for the keyboard and one for the mouse so only 4 free on the back.

Cheers. I just spent a day pricing up a new system after a blown Shuttle, but only wanted a case, power supply, board, CPU...after all the messing about and buying compatible bits on Ebay, I couldn't do it for this price. I'll have to void the warranty to fit my peripherals in....but wouldn't have got one with a self-build anyway. :D
