Virgin Media cable - which wireless router is provided?

Hi!
I've just upgraded to XL broadband from M broadband and I am on cable. I think I can get a 'free' (£7.50 P&P) wireless router from Virgin Media following this upgrade. Does anyone know what that router is?
The reason I ask is that I have an elderly d-link router and the wireless reception is not all that wonderful round the house. If I got a newer (pre-N) router would that help or would I also need to get new cards for the laptops as well?
Also I'm going to have to upgrade the wired network to gigabit sooner or later and would be interested if the router supported gigabit.

I belive that it is a modified version (as in special virgin media firmware) of the Netgear WGR614.
