Annoyed with Sky re broadband and any recs for other providers?

Well where do I start, after Virgin upped our broadband and phone bill by almost double we decided to shop around to change providers. After lengthly talks with sky we decided to opt for their base package (pay a one off charge and then its free each month) only proviso was that we had to have BT line reconnected at a charge of £125. Fair enough as over the longterm it would save us money.

This was done 10 days a go, today I go and try and order the base package and I am told its not available in our area neither is the mid package which is £5 a month. The only one available is their connect package which is £17 a month which is considerably more than we expected and were told plus from what I can see from the specs its exactly the same as the fiver a month package but more expensive (!). Have emailed them this but not had a reply as of yet.

So I dont know what to do! Am annoyed that I have spent out on BT line after being told I could have the base package, although I know I would need a BT line to go elsewhere anyway.

Anyway, now we are tied in with BT for 12 months to provide phone rental so where is our next best internet provider? Needs to be relatively cheap. 4MB max speed required as we dont really do much.

o2 - £7.50 a month if you have one of their mobiles £12.5 0 if you dont

Thanks for that - are they any good? As in, do they crash often etc?

ETA - Ignore that - just found a massive thread on them so will have a look now

TBH I have found their customer service second to none.

It may not be the same for everyone but their tech guys do know what they are talking about and available 24/7 - for free!

No crashes, very stable = me very happy
